AI implementation is the work of getting artificial intelligence running inside your business day to day, rather than just learning what it is. In practice it means choosing a tool like Claude, connecting it to your real tasks, and building the specific workflows that do those tasks for you. Training tells you what is possible. Implementation is the part where it is actually built and working.

Most small business owners in New Zealand have done some version of the first part. You have watched a webinar, tried ChatGPT once or twice, maybe sat through a course. And then nothing changed, because knowing AI can draft your emails is not the same as having it draft your emails every morning without you thinking about it. That gap is what implementation closes.

4. Judgement. You learn where AI helps and where it does not, so you are not handing it work it will get wrong.

Done properly, you finish with two or three workflows running, not a list of ideas.

AI implementation vs AI training: what is the difference?

AI training teaches you the concepts and leaves the building to you. AI implementation builds it with you and tests it before you finish. Training is cheaper and useful if you have the hours to apply it yourself. Implementation costs more and is worth it if you are time-poor and want the result rather than the homework. Most established owners we work with have already done the training and are stuck at the implementation step.

It ranges widely. A short group masterclass can be a few hundred dollars. A full done-with-you implementation day sits in the several-thousand range. The businesses that get this right do not try to boil the ocean. They pick the two or three tasks that eat the most time, get those running first, and expand from there.
